HBO’s sci-fi drama series Westworld has riveted viewers across the globe. Sure, the violence and sexuality we’ve come to expect from the premium cable channel has raised some eyebrows. However, the show’s heady existential questions, gut-punch twists and commentary on how humanity coexists with technology have provoked much thought. The show, based on the Michael Crichton film of the same name, expands on and updates the ideas explored in the 1973 movie.

The inaugural MINDS Film Festival is being held from 29 July to 6 August 2016, and the U.K. indie production My Feral Heart has been chosen as the opening film. Jointly organised by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) and the Singapore Film Society (SFS), the festival will showcase movies centring on the theme of intellectual disability, with the aim of fostering acceptance of and understanding for this community.

Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Enchantress, El Diablo, Slipknot and Killer Croc, wrangled by Rick Flag and his bodyguard Katana, comprise “Task Force X” – assembled by government official Amanda Waller, they are coerced into running errands for, ostensibly, the side of good.

As an actor, comedian and host, Gurmit Singh is an extremely familiar face to Singaporeans everywhere. His signature contractor character Phua Chu Kang, who originated from Singh’s sketch show Gurmit’s World and went on to have his own television show, movie and even a musical, is a Singaporean cultural icon.
