Horror director Scott Derrickson has just announced via Twitter that he will be directing Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange.

Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005), The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)) became a horror specialist of sought after his miniscule-budget Sinister performed well enough to warrant a sequel of which he’ll write and produce. He’s also the man behind the upcoming exorcism horror Deliver Us From Evil, opening this July.
For those who’re not familiar, Doctor Strange was created by comic legend Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963 about a neurosurgeon who becomes a powerful sorcerer protecting Earth, from the scums of the Universe of course!
The new film will be produced by Marvel’s Kevin Feige.
