Directed by Cheang Pou-soi, the much delayed film will finally open in China, and hopefully here too, on 31 January 2014 (the first day of the Chinese New Year).
The Monkey King is based on selected chapters of Wu Cheng`en`s classic novel, Journey to the West, and tells the story of how Monkey King (Donnie Yen) rebels against the Jade Emperor (Chow Yun-fat). Other characters in the story includes the Bull Demon King (Aaron Kwok), Princess Iron Fan ( Joe Chen); Erlang Shen (Peter Ho); and Guan Yin (Kelly Chen).
