Based on a series of dystopian young adult novels written by Veronica Roth, Divergent is set in a world where people are classified according to five factions which correspond to values like Abnegation (read: self-sacrifice), Dauntless (courage), Candour (truthfulness), Erudite (wisdom) and Amity (peaceful). Tris has been brought up in the colourless, self-sacrificing Abnegation faction… but come her sixteenth birthday, she has to make her choice. Should she stay with her family, or go with who her heart tells her she is?
Directed by also star in the Neil Burger, the film also stars Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Miles Teller, Tony Goldwyn, Ashley Judd, Zoe Kravitz, Jai Courtney, and Theo James.
