A Few Best Men

Like most R-rated comedies, A Few Best Men relies on loosely-strung together premises rather than a cohesive plot. British bachelor David (Xavier Samuel), falls in love with the Aussie girl of his dreams Mia (Laura Brent), and he decides to recruit his three best mates to help oversee the proceedings. There`s Tom (Kris Marshall) the alpha dog, Graham the obligatory neurotic (Kevin Bishop) and the almost suicidally depressed Luke (Tim Draxl).

The cast (or suspects in question) are a motley crew that don`t possess a tenth of the grimy charm of their American counterparts from The Hangover, let alone their female counterparts in Bridesmaids. Most of the characters come across as generally unlikable, rather than sordidly charming, which is fatal to a film that requires audience engagement to ballast the moments between coke-snorting and cross-dressing sheep.

One of the few standout moments of A Few Best Men is a wedding speech given by Kevin Bishop`s character, which proves to be genuinely hilarious. That alone, however, is little reason to fork out the price of entry.

Summary: A Few Mediocre Men.
