Love in Space

Maybe that`s because it borrows from the Hollywood cache of banal rom-coms without adding anything new to the formula, or without trying to instill any Asian flair to it. The story pivots around a middle-class family – made up of four single women – and their romantic pursuits. May (Yu Fan) is a widow with three grown daughters all living far away from each other, who are absolute failures when it comes to romance. The oldest, Rose (Rene Liu), is an astronaut on a mission working with her ex-lover Michael (Hong Kong heartthrob Aaron Kwok) on a space shuttle. Peony (Angelababy) is a famous celebrity in China, though mostly for her terrible acting skills. Lily (Gwei Lun Mei) lives in Sydney, an aspiring (and somewhat talented) artist, who is struggling with her own germ-related obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Along the way, Rose and Michael find themselves confronting their buried feelings for each other; Lily finds herself an unlikely suitor in the form of a garbageman (Eason Chan), thus also forcing her to face (and overcome) her powerful fear of bacteria; Peony, while working in a cafÃ
