Snow White & The Huntsman

Plot-wise, the film does little to deviate from the original source material: there`s a beautiful princess brought up by loving parents, the unfortunate demise of the latter, an evil stepmother who happens to have a Doctorate in Black Magic, and of course, a poisoned apple. The twist, however, is that the hero who comes to Snow White`s (Kristen Stewart) rescue isn`t some foppish prince on a white horse – it`s Chris Hemsworth as a taciturn, grimy huntsman, haunted with a dark past. I don`t hear my lady friends complaining.

Despite the several flaws that detractors of the film will undoubtedly pick up on, Snow White and The Huntsman is an inarguably beautiful movie in terms of special effects and overall visuals. Director Rupert Sanders has put together a lushly beautiful fantasy landscape that is almost on par with the breathtaking visuals of Peter Jackson`s behemoth trilogy, The Lord of The Rings.

That being said, there are a few blemishes on this apple; Kristen Stewart, while much improved from her Twilight performances, comes across as slightly stilted when she should be regal and charismatic. Charlize Theron is both stunning and sinister as evil Queen Ravenna, but may come across as cartoon-villainy at some points. And Chris Hemsworth is unreasonably good lookingâ€
