Sadako first appeared in the classic-by-now Japanese horror Ring 13 years ago. The phoenominal success of the film prompted a sequel and kickstarted many other Asian horrors like Ju-On and Dark Water – which were all adapted and remade for the Hollywood market.
Sadako 3D synopsis: Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumour from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet that depicts someone`s suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to commit suicide too. Akane does not believe the rumour at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada. Kashiwada`s intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.
The special Sadako Movie Marathon will be held on 22 June (Friday) at GV Plaza and GV Jurong Point. Tickets are on sale via www.gv.com.sg and all Golden Village outlets at $27 for GV Movie Club members and $32 for the Public. Each marathon ticket also comes with a large popcorn combo.
