Larry Crowne

Hanks wisely diverts attention from the romantic angle, so that this doesn`t degenerate into a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. The supporting players round out the film well and lend some quirky character moments which gel nicely with the overall comedic tone. Watch (and listen) out for George Takei as the Economics professor who can`t stand students using mobile phones in his class. However, there are some moments where the film floats off into an ideal fantasy land and doesn`t stay grounded enough.

In the end though, this is a sweet, charming comedy that isn`t drowned by its star power and that goes down easily.
