If you`re a parent who`s still not yet over Avatar and wants to bond with your kids through movies at the same time, we recommend watching this. It has all the elements that can make an animated film purely entertaining: action-packed moving images, a-not-too ambitious fusion of sci-fi and fantasy, and a general story of comedy, adventure and friendship that appeals to the whole family. Other voices behind the characters include Gerard Butler and America Ferrera. We just couldn`t help but wonder why the film guys chose to make the main boy and girl of the story sound American, while the rest of the characters sound Scottish. Another thing that we find trivial is the uncanny resemblance of the Nightfury dragon Toothless with the alien creature Stitch (Lilo and Stitch). Were they sketched by the same cartoonist?
Some animated films are written to cater to different age groups, but this one attracts the young, and the young at heart. The story line is simple and does not require one to think deep. Yet the moral of the story clearly conveys a significant message: that after all, knowledge is power.
