European Holiday – the 23rd European Union Film Festival

Â

By Shawne Wang

The second-longest running film festival in Singapore is back! The European Union Film Festival will present its largest number of films ever 28 from 15-26 May 2013. For the first time, a film from Croatia (which joins the EU in July this year) will be featured, and other new participating countries include Turkey, Ukraine and Norway.

The movies in the festival include films that have earned critical acclaim worldwide, some of which have never had a commercial release in Singapore. The ten-day festival will feature an exclusive sneak preview of the new Irish-Singapore co-production Mister John, starring Singaporean actress Zoe Tay (in her first English movie role) and Irish actor Aiden Gillan. Set in Singapore, it`s a poignant tale of loss and redemption. The film will be screened at the EUFF opening gala and will open in commercial release later this year.

We here at F*** have gone through the list of films and selected a few to whet your appetites. For more updates, do visit www.euff.sg or the EUFFsg Facebook page.

The 23rd European Union Film Festival will run from 15 to 26 May 2013 at Shaw Lido. Tickets are priced at $11 and are available online at www.shaw.com.sg from 25 April 2013.
