The 1,100-seat Cathay Cineplex West Mall is Cathay Cineplexes` first venture into the western part of Singapore. The multiplex is also the first in the west to offer daily midnight screenings and double midnight screenings on weekends, ensuring that film lovers can catch their favourite movies any day of the week. This S$6.5 million venture is Cathay Cineplexes` fourth location in the suburbs and its sixth in Singapore.
This first-of-its-kind category offers a different class of seats that come equipped with wider leg room, motorised backrest and leg-rest facilities with individual controls. These leather-upholstered and ergonomically designed seats are created by Quinette Gallay, the European leader in auditorium seating. The seats are reclinable and come attached with tablets to let viewers enjoy a hands-free premium movie experience. Aimed at providing another level of comfort for movie-goers who want the maximum space they can get in a regular theatre, each Elite Club seat comes with risers measuring up to 24 centimetres and two metres back-to-back seat distance.
These seats are available only in the last two rows in each hall of the six-screen multiplex. Cathay Cineplexes is currently the only multiplex operator in Singapore to offer seats in two class types in a cinema hall. The Elite Club experience has been specially created for discerning movie-goers who prefer to watch movies in extra comfort and are willing to pay a small premium for this. Tickets for Elite Club seats are priced at $18 per ticket from Mondays to Thursdays and $25 from Fridays to Sundays, eve of public holidays and public holidays. Preferred rates are offered through a loyalty programme for Elite Club members.
