After being stuck in the bat cave for seven dormant years brought about by the psychedelic terror that was 1997's Batman and Robin, Nolan brought Batman back to life and onto the big screens with his his idea of a reboot, in 2005's Batman Begins. The new version took us back to an origin story with Christian Bale as the caped crusader, and needless to say, it was a huge hit which brought about 2008's The Dark Knight, which became an even bigger box office wonder. And the rest, as they say, is cinematic history, as this month's The Dark Knight Rises brings an end to Nolan's vision. Join us for the ride as we take you back to 1943 when Batman first appeared on the silver screen, right up till present day in our Batman: 70 Years Onscreen feature on page 34.

Of course, we can't let the very talented cast go off without a chat on what they feel about the curtain closing on the Batman trilogy. On a slightly cheerful note, we talk to the Farrelly brothers, who brought us stomach and face cramping comedies like There's Something about Mary and Dumb and Dumber, about their decision to bring the classic The Three Stooges back to life, on page 60.
